The First Step to International Shopping: Accurate English Addresses
When buying from international online malls like Amazon, AliExpress, or Taobao, the first barrier you face is often entering the shipping address. Are you unsure how to write your Korean address in English or what order to use?
Follow this guide to create a perfect address that ensures delivery without accidents.
1. Korean Address vs. English Address Structure
The biggest difference is the order.
- Korean: Large unit → Small unit (Province/City → District/Town → Road Name/Number → Detail)
- English: Small unit → Large unit (Detail/Number → Road Name → City → State → Country)
But don't worry too much. We have an English address converter built right into the site, so use it if you need help!
2. Tips for Each Input Field
While malls vary slightly, most follow this format:
Full Name
It is safest to write your name exactly as it appears on your passport.
Address Line 1
The most important part. This contains your Street Address (Road Name) and Building Number.
- Example: 123, Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu
Address Line 2 (Detail Address)
Enter detailed information like Apartment Building/Unit Number, Floor, etc.
- Example: Apt 101-202
- Tip: Writing "101-202" is concise and widely understood by Korean delivery drivers.
City
Enter your City/Gun/Gu.
- Example: Seoul, Busan, Seongnam-si
State/Province/Region
Enter your Province (Do). For major metropolitan cities like Seoul or Busan, you can often repeat Seoul or Busan, or leave it blank. For others, use Gyeonggi-do, etc.
Zip Code / Postal Code
Enter your 5-digit postal code accurately.
Phone Number
Include the country code +82. If your number is 010-1234-5678, the standard format is 82-10-1234-5678 (dropping the leading '0').
3. PCCC (Personal Customs Clearance Code)
For all goods entering Korea via personal import, a Personal Customs Clearance Code is mandatory. It is a 13-digit number starting with P. Usually, enter this in the Customs ID or Tax ID field.
